Romantic First Anniversary Gifts

It has been nearly a year since that magical moment, the day that you exchanged vows with your special someone and committed to sharing a life together. Your relationship might still be in the honeymoon stage, dancing in the moonlight and watching the sunrise together. Or you may have settled down somewhat and gotten into the groove and perhaps even monotony of married life. Or perhaps your relationship lies somewhere in between. In any case, your first anniversary is a unique and special time to recreate your love and show your husband once more just how much he means to you.
How? What is the perfect, yet romantic, first anniversary gift? It is said that the first anniversary is the “paper” anniversary, and the gift should have something to do with paper. Why not write a poem? You might not feel like a talented writer, but that is where freedom of expression comes in. He will be touched with whatever you say, because it is you and you are the one he married and the one he loves.
If you do not feel romantically expressive enough to write a poem, try to compose a realistic yet humorous story of your first year together. Write a synopsis of the year overall, and bring in some highlights and first experiences that you shared. If you remember dates of the first time you experienced certain things, write the date. This could even turn into something that you add to year by year and have to remember those special times, or even share them with your children someday.
Make a unique photo album titled “Our First Year”. This can be a digital album or a handmade one, depending on what kind of camera you have. Try to make it chronological, or in order of most important to you. You could instead categorize the pictures according to topic or experiences. Make it colorful, adding in memorabilia from the places you have visited together. It might take some time to work on any of the above ideas, but a unique and personalized gift from your heart to his will mean so much more than any store-bought gift and will last longer as well.
Lastly, choose a time and place to present him with your gift. Perhaps you would want to pick a place that is meaningful to both of you, such as where you went on your first date together, or where you met. Maybe you would prefer to just be home, or in a quiet and secluded park, out in nature together. Try to create a calming and romantic ambience: music, soft lighting, and his favorite drink. Give him your tailor-made anniversary gift and see how his face lights up and his heart as well. Love is often spelt “t-i-m-e” and he will be assured once more of your love for him. Relax together on your special day, reminiscing together and creating new moments that you can treasure for years to come.
