The best Valentine’s gifts for men are thoughtful, useful, and will make him feel appreciated. Take his interests into account! Here are some ideas to get you started. What’s his favorite band, movie, or television show? Perhaps he would like a t-shirt, action figure, or poster that references it. What does he do in his spare time? Does he have any hobbies that he could use some equipment for? For example, if he enjoys sketching, perhaps he would like some higher-quality pencils or a new drawing table. If he enjoys working on his car, perhaps he could use a new set of wrenches. But think outside the box!

If you don’t know exactly what equipment would be useful to him, think about making it easier for him to do his hobbies. You could clear out an area or a room just for him to work in. You could give him coupons for an afternoon of uninterrupted time to work on those hobbies. Do you live together? Perhaps giving some rooms of the house a more “masculine” feel would make him feel more at home. Try color schemes with his favorite colors, or picking a more “boy-friendly” theme like cars or pirates for your bathroom. Do you live separately? Perhaps making a space for him in your house or apartment would make him feel welcome and comfortable.

Have you been together for at least a year? If so, think about what he gave you for Valentines last year, and try to remember if he said anything that might give you a clue as to what his ideal present would be. Did he say something like, “This is something that will remind you of me?” Perhaps he, too, would like some kind of wearable keepsake, then. Of course, he would prefer something masculine like cufflinks or a watch. Did he say something like, “It’s the thought that counts?” Perhaps he’s not into material possessions and would prefer a demonstration of affection, such as buying him tickets to an event to attend together.

Play to your strengths! Does he love your cooking? Put together a favorite meal with several courses that he enjoys. Does he prefer you to wear a certain outfit? Does he like it when you wear your hair a certain way? Does he enjoy going to a certain restaurant, bar, or club? Does he have a special place that he enjoys visiting? Don’t just pick one of these things—make your Valentine’s celebration as special and enjoyable as possible by combining many small details into one big plan. Try to make your Valentine’s gift part of an experience that he’ll remember. The best Valentine’s gift of all is that he has such a thoughtful, generous girlfriend, so don’t forget to make your experience fun!
