Valentine Presents for Men

Every year, a man is expected to give his girlfriend or wife a fabulously romantic gift on Valentine ’s Day. Chocolate, flowers, maybe a piece of jewelry—it’s fairly safe, and you bet it’s required if he wants to live with his wife. But what about gifts for him? What would be a good choice of present to bring the love back around to him? Obviously, most men aren’t going to want flowers and chocolate. In fact, that would go over pretty poorly. Or would it? Since it’s hard to tell, here’s a quick guide on how to make him happy on Valentine’s Day, too.
1. A man is going to want something masculine that he can use. But just like you wouldn’t want a blender on V-D, he probably wouldn’t be thrilled with opening a power tool. It would just seem like you wanted him to do things around the house. Sure, he’d take the drill and be happy, but it just isn’t romantic.
2. You should get something that’s personal to him, something he can look at and know that you chose it for him. Whether it’s something to remind him of a time you shared, or something that appeals to his tastes, you can’t really go wrong here. But remember to keep it pretty practical.
3. Don’t cheat him out of something good because it’s “your day to shine.”
4. Don’t get him something that will make what he got you look terrible. That would be worse than getting him nothing at all.
5. Realize that Valentine’s Day is, frankly, not about presents for him. It’s about trying to show how much you love him. So, with this in mind, let’s describe the perfect Valentine’s day for him, gift-wise. Ready? You should get him flowers. Really. It’s a nice touch, something that shows how much you love him. Stick to dark colors, though. Now, you might think that this would be goofy – that’s exactly why it works! It makes you seem cute, and believe me, you’ll be the better for it. Next, here’s the ultimate present: a nice watch! What? A watch? Yes! A watch! Pick out a good, quality watch, and tell him that wherever he looks at it, he can remember the time you’ve spent together. But don’t make a huge deal out of it, or it’ll just be like you’re forcing it on him. Believe me, he’ll wear it proudly if you do it right. Next, make sure you set aside time when you can be together and have fun together! This is important: for most men, romantic doesn’t mean “candlelight and Barry White.” It means having fun together. He (really) cherishes that time you went for a drive with him, or arm-wrestled him. You may not like it. But to him, it’s worth a million bucks.
Happy Valentine’s Day. Here’s to the best for you and him.
