Great Valentine’s Gifts for Men

Red roses and a box of decadent chocolate comprise the ideal romantic gift to receive on February 14th. However, if a box covered with frilly pink bows and mushy love poems shows up at your office and you happen to be a man, the ideal could seem, well, less than ideal. Avoid embarrassing or disappointing the man in your life by selecting more appropriate, personal gifts based on their interests. That means, first, figuring out what makes your guy tick. This should not be too hard since most men have interests that lend themselves to gifts.
If you happen to date or cohabitate a sports fanatic—and I know many of you do—then consider making use of this knowledge. While football tickets may seem unromantic to you, consider how happy they might make your loved one. And if you don’t want to drop the big bucks on something so elaborate, consider collectibles from stores such as Hallmark or Things Remembered, the latter of which specializes in engraving which can make your gift even more special.
If you just can’t stomach the thought of sports becoming more a part of your love life, you might consider a more electronically-themed gift. One caution, though: make sure he is technologically savvy before you settle on an iPhone. A good place to browse is Best Buy but you might also consider smaller stores. A few great electronic gifts include PDAs, cell phones, and, if he happens to be a child at heart, a Nintendo DS.
If you want to further embrace that inner child, consider purchasing a Valentine’s gift from a more off-the-wall web site. One of the best out there is Perpetual Child. This is truly the store for those who have everything, as it features over a thousand gifts, ninety percent of which no one needs. For him, think about the ex-lover knife block, bacon-scented cologne, or even the evil rubber ducky. And then there are always the heart-covered boxers.
These strange, but fascinating and humorous, gifts may not be your style, though. If you’re looking for something more traditional and classy, consider taking a trip. And don’t completely rule out chocolates (though the flowers can probably be set aside). Some men would enjoy receiving a high-quality box of chocolates from Godiva. For a more exotic and unusual (and perhaps manly) box, try See’s Chocolates. And if you are still stuck, look around! There are tons of websites that have lists and lists of gifts. Start with Gifts.com and work your way down to more specific gifts. This specificity is key, though. Avoid generic options, and try to select something special that lets him know you know him.
