Two ways a woman can go about obtaining a gift for her boyfriend or husband are to either make it or buy it.

If she is going to make a gift for him it has to be personal. She can make him a personalized gift from many different stores now and quite a few of the gifts are not expensive. These personalized gifts can range from coasters or mouse pads to t-shirts or blankets. The larger and more complicated the gift the more money you will invest, of course.

Another popular and cost-effective Valentine’s Day gift would be Love Coupons. This option affords the woman the chance to be creative. She simply constructs a group of coupons that he can redeem for whatever she would write on them.

An additional Valentine’s Day gift could be his favorite meal. If he has expensive taste this option could get a little pricey, however.

Depending on the weather this could also be an opportunity to take advantage of outdoor activities. If there is snow on the ground a nice sled-riding escapade could afford him the chance to cuddle up to get warm afterward. That would be a great time to rent a movie and make some hot cocoa, too. If it is cold enough he might even enjoy ice-skating after dark followed by a warm evening in by the fire.

The alternative to making his gift would be buying his gift. If a cheap gift is what he will be receiving then a card could fall into this category. This will tell him exactly what he needs to know and it will not break the budget. Cards today are not just a piece of cardboard, either. Many of the card companies are now making them with sound also; this could add another level of romance or fun to the plain old card.

One more choice could be a reasonably priced set of lingerie and some imagination. This gift works because while he will not be the one wearing the lingerie, most men still appreciate the gift. Couple the lingerie with a romantic evening in and it is sure to be a hit. If lingerie is too much he could even value a quiet night at the movies. Low-cost gifts are out there and sometimes go over better than high-priced ones. Cheaper gifts can sometimes seem more personal and thoughtful because a person on a budget usually has to think harder about what to give. After all, it is the thought that counts.
