Being in the hospital is not a pleasant experience for anyone. For men it may be even more unpleasant because they do not like being incapacitated for any period of time. Men seem to get much more frustrated by being away from home and unable to enjoy their daily routine.

A gift for the man who is hospitalized can help him to occupy himself while he is incapacitated. If he likes to read, a book is always a good choice. There may be one by his favorite author that has just been released.

There are many software programs available for his laptop that can provide hours of enjoyment. With the advanced graphics that are available today, there are many games he will enjoy and that will allow him to forget that he is in the hospital for a while.

A gift basket is always a good choice and they can be filled with anything. You are not limited to pre-made baskets—put together your own with personalized gifts that will be enjoyed by your husband, father, brother, or friend. These could include an iPod. Another great idea is pajamas, since no one enjoys wearing hospital gowns. Just the sleep pants to wear under his gown can be a welcome gift. Socks to keep his feet warm and a robe for the times when he is up are two more great choices since hospitals are always cold.
