Christmas Shopping
Christmas shopping for men shouldn’t be too much different from shopping for a birthday present, with the exception of the fact that you’ll probably be purchasing more than one gift, because you’ll have several different men on your list. The most important thing to consider is that you should shop for each man on the list individually, and even if there are two men on the list with similar interests, two completely different gifts are appropriate.
If after considering their hobbies and interests you cannot find any good gift ideas, you may want to consider using an online gift-finding service. There are several free ones available from online gift sites that will allow you to enter specific information about each male, such as his age and interests, and even a price range.
If the online gift-finding service fails, you can try any of the following gift ideas:
A tie. If he’s not the kind of man to dress up often, exchange this for a coffee mug. If he has to wear a tie to work every day, he’ll appreciate the gift. Getting a wacky tie will give him something for the more casual days in the office, and give his co-workers a little insight into his personality.
A bottle of champagne. This works for any male, because there’s no "tag" attached to it. It’s a nice gift and can be used in lieu of something better or different for a boss, a husband, or a friend.
Gadgets. This can be nearly anything in the electronics or tools department. This works well for the tech geek. For those who are into computers, try a USB lighter, or any USB gadget that is not traditional. Another good one to consider, especially for men who travel a lot, is a mini DVD player. This is a good one for your husband, because when you and the children go on road trips together, this gift can also be used to entertain the children.
Clothing. Try a t-shirt with a logo or saying on it. There are many to choose from, each designed to fit a variety of personalities. Make sure you’re getting the right size, and if in doubt, ask another person he knows. If the person you ask doesn’t know, be prepared to include a gift receipt, commonly included with all receipts with purchases made around the holiday season, so that he is able to exchange it for the size he needs.
Tickets to a concert or sporting event. This is a gift that is hard to surprise a man with, unless you have other ways of knowing all of his personal and professional engagements and requirements. If his favorite band or sports team is nearby, or will be having an event nearby, go ahead and get tickets, regardless of when the event actually takes place. If anything comes up to prevent him from attending, the tickets can be sold to another person, and another gift can be found.
Shop early to avoid the Christmas rush and to ensure you get a gift for all the men on your list.
