Men are usually depicted as straightforward creatures. When they’re hungry they  eat. When they are sleepy they sleep. When they want to say something they say it. So many cultures have depicted man as the head of the household. For many young boys the clause ”man of the house“ has a special meaning. It means that you are doubly responsible. You can’t be weak and expose yourself to the sentiments and frailties that most human beings are allowed. In a patriarchal culture, a man can’t be weak like a woman is allowed to be because by his very nature he has to be strong and abiding.

However, times have certainly changed. No longer are we in a world in which we suffer from cruelties of stereotyping. A man can still be a man, but a real man cries now. The society has evolved to the extent that gender roles have either switched or they overlap. Housebands and trophy husbands exist to satisfy the wiles of the female ego as opposed to the other way around. Women can now be on top of the chain of command, issuing orders to male subordinates.

By analogy, it’s also okay to give gift baskets to men. But what is contained in a gift basket can vary from person to person. You can cater or adapt the contents of your gift basket to cater to the different demands and needs of your man. You can cater to the cultures and different subcultures of men.

For example, the recent decades have brought the metrosexual into the limelight. The metrosexual is the straight guy who is very much into grooming and self-care. He is fashion savvy and unafraid to pamper himself with an occasional or even regular facial. The ultimate representative of the metrosexual is David Beckham, who is idolized by millions of guys and desired by even more females.

A suitable gift basket for the metrosexual male would consist of beauty products or gift certificates to the spa. A spa vacation would be an excellent gift to a couple with a gift basket. These so-called beauty products don’t have to be girly in packaging at all. The market has expanded so as to meet increasing male demand. There are now product lines specifically geared towards the male market. In fact, a lot of good products in the market have express labeling that the product is for men.

Aside from the metrosexual dude, a guy can also be the computer hacker. The term hacker might not necessarily apply, but he loves his gadgets. A guy can still use a cool cell phone—not only as an important tool for communication but also as a fashion accessory. A guy could also use some time to relax in an increasingly hectic world. What better objects to relax with than with the latest sets of PC or Xbox 360 games? These games are not only engaging, but they can relieve a lot of stress by the end of the weekend. The possibilities and combinations are simply endless.
