Homemade Christmas Gifts
For some weird reason a lot of people can’t think of a good gift to give their guy friends during Christmas. Whether it’s for the boyfriend, husband, neighbor, classmate, or just plain friend, awkward gift opening sessions seem unavoidable on Christmas. He smiles at his plaid sweater and tucks it back into the box. Everything’s fine until he happens to pass by the nearest convenience store and sees the same sweater on display for a 20% discount. He won’t say it the next time he sees you but he’ll certainly think of it. He’ll think you’re cheap. That’s certainly not a good impression to make.
In order to avoid those awkward circumstances it’s always a good idea to come up with your own homemade Christmas gifts. It sounds clichéd, but these gifts can come from the heart and that alone accounts more for a developing relationship than a generic sweater ever could.
When making homemade gifts, it’s best to first assess whatever skills you have at your disposal rather than looking for the most ideal gift out there that you could make. Make sure that you start crafting, knitting, or embroidering with ample time for possible setbacks. Set a deadline for yourself because you want to make sure that you finish your gift with enough time to polish its presentation. Going for the ideal gifts without the requisite skills or at the very least time to learn and hone basic skills is a recipe for disaster.
With that in mind, there are actually a number of homemade gifts out there that could serve nicely to reward him with something personal and unique. Actually, a sweater isn’t a bad idea to start. It’s chilly during the holidays and there’s no better time to show off a cheery blazer or a warm wooly sweater. The difference of a homemade sweater is its design. Make sure you pick a design that’s original or very rare so he won’t see duplicates around every corner in the mall. Other clothing apparel with your own mark or design would also impress him by showing that you exerted a lot of effort and that he is special enough to deserve that attention.
Not everyone is good with knitting and embroidery. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any other gifts out there. Christmas food can be both delicious and personal. A delicious meal could actually be more memorable than a fashionable beret from the department store. Home-baked cookies can smell heavenly and delight him with every bite. He’ll certainly end up wanting more and thanking you all the more.
If you can’t bake or cook then all is not lost. There are a number of things that you can give him from the heart. A poem or story personally written and dedicated to him would be more appreciated than any purchased book. A beautiful original song could light up the room and his heart with beautiful melodies and harmonies for days.
There are so many ideas that it’s almost impossible to enumerate and list them all. You just have to open your mind to the possibilities.
