Homemade Valentine gifts are among the most cherished gifts anyone can give or receive. Children can also get into the act and make homemade gifts for grandparents, teachers, and friends. Baked goods are a favorite on Valentine’s Day and can be easily prepared with parental supervision. Children can make brownies, cupcakes or delicious home-prepared cookies that are decorated with sweet red sprinkles or special Valentine hearts. A homemade card is a very special Valentine’s gift as it expresses a heartfelt sentiment and can be decorated with a picture or with several pictures to make a collage. While store bought cards are nice, there are times when you want to send a message that just cannot be found in mass-produced greeting cards. Coupons can be created on a computer and printed out on red or pink paper before being shaped into a book and decorated with Valentine’s Day stamps and ribbons. By tailoring each coupon according to the likes of the recipient, a special gift that can be enjoyed for days, weeks, or months is created with just a little extra thought and creativity.
Valentine’s Day should be a day to celebrate love and a day to exchange gifts that speak of what is contained in the heart.
