Humorous Christmas gifts are a popular alternative to traditional gift giving during the holidays. Giving a gift that makes a person laugh is a great way to create funny memories and add a little extra holiday cheer. Whether exchanging gifts with family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers, humorous Christmas gifts are a fun way to enjoy gift-giving celebrations.
For office Christmas parties, co-workers will often set a limit on how much a person can spend on a present for a gift exchange. These settings are the perfect place to offer humorous Christmas gifts, as it is a lighthearted environment and, with low price limitations, no one is expecting anything very expensive or elaborate. It is also nice to share a laugh with co-workers in a relaxed atmosphere. Examples of humorous Christmas gifts for the office would be a dancing hula Santa lamp for someone’s desk or maybe a Santa Claus head that grows grass similar to the concept of a Chia Pet. Gifts like these are often found online or at local novelty stores during the holiday season.
If you are trying to think of a great gift idea and are interested in one that will make the recipient laugh, think about his personality, his likes, and his dislikes, and try to find something that will have personal meaning to him. For instance, if buying a gift for the person that has everything, consider gift wrapping a basket of batteries and attaching a note that reads, "toy not included." Or if the person is a really conservative dresser, think about getting him a gaudy Hawaiian shirt with a surfing Santa Claus on it. The point is to give them something that they are not expecting, but that will stand out amongst the ties, socks, cookies, and other more traditional gifts that are exchanged at Christmas time.
Humorous Christmas gifts don’t have to cost a lot, but they will definitely show that you put some thought into purchasing or creating a gift that has meaning to the recipient and is intended to put a smile on his face. Often these gifts are even re-gifted year after year as people enjoy passing them on and getting reactions out of others in the family or at the office.
Keep in mind that not everyone enjoys receiving a humorous Christmas gift, so choose the recipient very carefully. The person should have a good sense of humor and the two of you should share a relationship that can withstand a joke. If you are successful in giving someone a humorous Christmas gift that they actually enjoy, also be prepared for him to return the favor to you next year. In fact, with some people, such exchanges have become a tradition year after year. In certain circles it has even become a competition for who can give the other the most memorable, creative, funniest gift of the year. Engaging in such giving can be challenging, but a lot of fun at the same time.
